ABOUT MALBY MAPS LTD

Malby Maps Ltd was founded in 2012 by Andrew Mottram (whose middle name is Malby, the maiden name of his mothers family) following many hours sitting in his late grandfathers study trawling through his genealogy notes and correspondence files (pre-internet and email days!). Andrew was aware from his late grandfather (Terence Archer Malby) that there was a link between our line of the Malby family and a globe maker, Thomas Malby.

Who was Thomas Malby?

Thomas Malby was an acclaimed and famous globemaker of the early 19th century who set up Malby & Co that later became Malby & Son of Parker Street, London. Thomas Malby was most famous for his reissue in 1849 of the John Addison famous 36 inch terraqueous globe.
